The Burdekin Chamber’s primary focus has always been to promote ‘shop local’ initiatives, fostering networking and development within the Burdekin region. We believe that strengthening our community benefits all of North Queensland, leading to greater prosperity for everyone.
One of the ways we promote local shopping is through our Burdekin Gift Card Initiative. As a first for the region, the Burdekin Chamber (formerly Ayr Chamber of Commerce) launched a community-wide, closed-loop gift card program. Burdekin Gift Cards can be purchased for any amount and redeemed only at participating local businesses, all of which are Chamber members.
With over 50 local businesses participating, recipients can easily redeem their Burdekin Gift Cards, making them a highly popular gift choice. These cards offer a fantastic alternative to large corporate retailer gift cards and online shopping.
Since the program began, more than $100,000 has been loaded onto the cards, directly benefiting our local economy and ensuring that spending stays within the community. The Gift Card Program has been a remarkable success for our local economy, and we look forward to its continued growth in the future.
